Curriculum vitae
Carles Batlle Arnau was born in Vilanova i la Geltrú
(Catalonia)
in 1961. He graduated in Physics in 1984 from Barcelona University, and
received the Ph.D. degree in Theoretical Physics in 1988 from the same
institution, under the supervision of Professor
Joaquim Gomis. He
was a post-doc fellow at
the
Physics Department of Princeton University from september 1988 to
august
1989, and entered the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 1989
as a lecturer. Since 1993 he is an Associate Professor with the
Department
of Mathematics of the UPC. He has taught several first and
second
year math courses for engineering students, as well as courses for math
and physics engineering students, and courses for graduate students.
His current research interests include
energy-based modeling
and control of complex systems, such as electromechanical systems and
fuel
cells, model order reduction of systems, and symmetries in classical
and quantum systems.
